Transience

Yesterday, I finished my CPU Final Physics exam! So, my girls and I went for a movie night. We wanted so badly to watch X-Men, but the seats were out, so we settled for Green Lantern at the first two rows. Oh my God, I will not be sitting at those front rows ever again, it was a strain on my eyes and a strain on my neck, and on my ears. Green Lantern started off kinda cheesy, with the "legend" background voice over of the story setting. It was like, lame, but layan je since it was from a comic book anyway, so it was supposed to sound cheesy. Then, yaddy yadda, meet Hal Jordan, aka, hot stuff. So far, all movies with Ryan Reynolds in it that I've watched just have him at least half-naked. The story started off quite badly in terms of plot, but the ending and the CGI doesn't disappoint. Go watch it for Ryan Reynolds and the spectacle. The villain does instill fear even in the viewers. Or was it because I was seated so up front with my peeps? Anyhow, 5/10 for stor...

Have you ever heard of this: "Hoi, kau nak tegur aku, kau tu bukanlah betul sangat." "Kau dah sempurna sangat ke nak tegur aku?" Being a prefect, I came across this quite often, but the context that I'd like to discuss for today is that of giving sage advice. Okaylah, in simplest terms, "tegur kesalahan" orang. The typical human being would generally tend to judge the speaker first before listening to what he or she says, so, to some, they think that only some people have the authority to speak about certain matters and zone out from listening to other people who don't match up to their criteria of having the authority to speak about a certain topic. I have to admit, sometimes I do judge people too, but those are mostly in cases where I need to understand why they would say such a statement or if I doubt the truth in their sentences. I'm officially stressed out with assignments. Projects were not as many as this year last year, I only had my hands full with English. This year, I have to get all of this done before the March holidays: 1. Life of Pi essay. 2. Agama assignment, 7-page report and recording on 17th March. 3. Calculus project. 4. Physics Unit Test and picture of Rube-Goldberg base. 5. IELTS test for speaking and writing. 6. English Unit Test. 7. Agama final test. I didn't know the Calculus project could take that long to do. Nope, not my name! It's another book I've read for my ISU. This time around, I was not organized as I was with Infidel. Although I didn't do a page-by-page log for that novel, but after reading it through once, I was still able to retain information and locate the quotes that I had wanted with quite ease. Ardalan's was a bit hard, as the flow was not as coherent as Hirsi Ali's. In terms of writing style, I was more comfortable with Hirsi Ali's. Hirsi was also more fiery when it came to her arguments, and her experiences were told in a matter-of-fact morbid recollections and sometimes an angry tone. Ardalan's was more affectionate and romanticized, and although she went through an internal turmoil, it had less of the articulated severity in comparison with Hirsi Ali. It was quite docile and almost akin to Nafisi's Reading Lolita. (I started reading a few chapters and I just couldn't bear with the flowery language). Basically, the book is an autobiog...

I wrote this a while back also: As always, religion has ALWAYS been an issue with me. Well, not because I am denying the notion of the human need to have a religion, but it's about the way I think or I see things is...unconventional. I know I don't have a "religious" family, they never bug me to pray and what not, but they're not freethinkers either, I think. I am very much aware that I lack religious knowledge (despite the fact that I almost always get A's on my Agama) and religion is only implemented loosely. Don't take it the wrong way, they do teach me morals, like what's right and wrong to the extent that I am almost overprotected. And I assure you, I don't go around rubbing boys' arses, mind you. But due to bad experiences with supposedly "religious" people, I become hard-hearted and ironically prejudiced to this group of people. I can't help it.
